Overview: This program provides scholarships to CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital associates interested in furthering their nursing education, as well as debt assistance for new nursing graduates overwhelmed with student loans.
Background: The U.S. has experienced a nursing deficit for decades, exacerbated by an aging population, aging nursing workforce, and limited capacity of nursing schools. Central Louisiana faces acute shortages—registered nurses are the most needed profession in the region. Locally, 46% of the nursing workforce is 45+ years old, and 23% is 55+, indicating worsening shortages ahead.
