Nupur Chaudhuri First Article Prize Grant

The Nupur Chaudhuri First Article Prize, awarded by the Coordinating Council for Women in History, recognizes the best first article published in history by a CCWH member. With a monetary value of $1000, this annual award honors Nupur Chaudhuri, a significant figure in the CCWH. Eligible articles must be published in a refereed journal within two years prior to the award year, showcasing the dedication to promoting women's contributions in historical scholarship.

The Coordinating Council for Women in History connects women historians throughout the world from all career stages, supporting students and emerging scholars through prizes, mentoring programs, and workshops.
Our Goals
CCWH seeks to broaden both the organization of women historians and the study of women’s history to represent as fully as possible the diversity of women in the United States and internationally.
To accomplish these ends, CCWH will continue to:
Strengthen ties between permanent and adjunct faculty, graduate students, secondary and elementary teachers and students, public historians, and the general public.Represent the interests of women in all areas of the historical professionResearch and publicize information on the professional status of women
The CCWH offers six awards to help reach its organizational goals.
Named to honor long-time CCWH board member and former executive director and co-president from 1995-1998 Nupur Chaudhuri, the article must be published in a refereed journal in one of the two years preceding the prize year.

Eligibility

The applicant need not attend the award ceremony to receive the award.An article may only be submitted once. All fields of history will be considered, and articles must be submitted with full scholarly apparatus.
