NSLA Founder's Award

Funder: National Summer Learning Association (NSLA)

Purpose: Recognize outstanding informal or drop-in model summer learning programs that demonstrate excellence in accelerating academic achievement and promoting healthy development for low-income children and youth

Target Population: Low-income children and youth between pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) and twelfth grade (K-12)

Program Focus: This award was introduced in 2015 to expand NSLA's reach and better document outstanding practices of unique informal or drop-in models for summer learning in the field

Program Type: Recognizes non-traditional or informal summer learning models (as opposed to structured programs recognized by the Excellence in Summer Learning Award)

Geographic Scope: United States

Strategic Purpose: The awards overall provide a growing knowledge base that NSLA uses to educate policymakers, funders, and the public on best practices and standards of quality for summer learning.
