NPSD Educational Foundation Classroom Project Grants
Geographic Scope: North Penn School District (PA, US)

Program Background: Since its inception in 1988, the NPSD Educational Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants to staff members in grades K-12.

Eligibility
- Are innovative and creative, exceeding the NPSD curriculum while enhancing student learning beyond normal budgetary expenses
- State clear objectives related to curriculum standards with detail and explanation
- Impact a number of students (not individual/small groups)
- Clearly outline what students will know, learn, and be able to do following project completion
- Continue without future funding (sustainability requirement)
Project Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must propose projects that:- Every core curriculum area
- Dozens of specialized areas of educational enrichment
- Science and technology projects
- Social and vocational development initiatives
- Classroom equipment, field trips, project materials, program software, guest speakers, and more
Focus Areas
The Foundation supports grants covering:- Flexible seating (no longer supported)
- Professional development
What Is NOT Funded
- Application Cycles: Twice per school year (November and May)
- Fall Applications: Implemented in current school year
- May Applications: Implemented in following school year
- No Save Feature: Applications cannot be edited after submission; applicants should draft responses beforehand
- Estimated Completion Time: Approximately 90 minutes or less
Application Timeline
- Submit documentation of all expenses to the Foundation
- Complete a summary report including photos detailing student learning and achievements
- Provide photo evidence of project results
- Surrender ownership: All materials acquired through Foundation grants become property of North Penn School District
- Share results: May be asked to present project and results to other district teachers or Foundation Board members

- If bus transportation is required, cost estimates must be included in application
- NPSD buses available only for trips leaving at 9:00 am or later and returning by 2:00 pm
- Charter buses required for trips outside these parameters
- Transportation cost estimates do NOT secure transportation; applicants must arrange separately through building office
- Increases above 10% of original estimate may not be funded

#### Application Process
1. Obtain Approval: Secure approval from your principal/supervisor/department chair/teacher through the Office of School/Community Engagement before submitting to the Foundation
2. Prepare Materials: Draft your application responses (consider copying/pasting if needed, as there is no "save and resume later" button)
3. Complete Application: Fill out the grant application form with all required information
4. Include Transportation Costs: If bus transportation is needed, calculate and include cost estimate using provided formulas
5. Submit: Applications must be submitted by the deadline (May 1, 11:59 PM for spring cycle)
6. Review for Accuracy: Ensure all information is correct before final submission, as applications cannot be edited after submission

- Explain how it relates to curriculum standards with detail and explanation
- Describe what students will know, learn, and be able to do following project completion
- Demonstrate how the project is innovative and creative, exceeding normal curriculum scope
- Explain student impact (number of students affected)
- Address sustainability (how project will continue without future funding)
Project Description & Objectives
- Required: Cost estimates must be included for any projects requiring bus transportation
- Determination: Whether bus aide(s) for students with special needs are required
- Capacity Planning: Number of buses needed (max 50 people per bus, including teachers and chaperones)
- Time Calculation: Total trip hours from pick-up to drop-off, and breakdown of driving vs. downtime hours
- Formula Application: Use provided transportation cost estimate formulas: - Without Bus Aides: (Number of Buses × DRIVING Hours × $33.37) + (Number of Buses × DOWNTIME hours × $20.00) = Total Cost - With Bus Aides: (Number of Buses × DRIVING Hours × $33.37) + (Number of Buses × DOWNTIME hours × $20.00) + (Number of Aides × Total hours × $19.27) = Total Cost
