Overview

The National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC) is a health policy research organization dedicated to the advancement of good evidence and fostering an environment that supports innovation in the U.S. Founded in 1953 and supported by the nation’s major research-based biopharmaceutical companies, NPC focuses on research development, information dissemination, education and communication of the critical issues of evidence, innovation and the value of medicines for patients. The issues we select for examination and the researchers and academics we partner with position NPC as a uniquely credible and trusted voice in the biopharmaceutical research and health policy communities. Much of our research is published in peer-reviewed journals. NPC's current research has four areas of focus: How is high-quality, real-world evidence being generated, accepted and used to inform decision-making?Is the value of medicines being recognized as an integral component of care?What can we do to ensure patients have meaningful access to appropriate medications?How can the health care system support biopharmaceutical innovation that improves patients’ lives? NPC will consider proposals for new research that contribute to a better understanding of the areas described above. Additional concepts as they relate to our mission also would be welcome. Submissions will be evaluated based on a combination of factors, including the potential impact of the research, availability of data and content, project duration, probability of technical success, cost, and to what extent the research is important to key audiences. NPC research projects have an indirect cost cap of 25 percent. Pass-through costs, like data acquisition costs, roundtable participant honorarium or travel, are not subject to the indirect cost cap.
