Norwegian Commercial Club Scholarship Fund

    Objectives and Purposes

  • Prepare young people with interest in Norwegian-American ideals with education in civic and commercial activity benefiting Seattle, Washington state, and the greater Pacific Northwest
  • Promote education through accredited formal and vocational public and private schools in the northwestern United States, Canada, and Scandinavian countries
  • Further education of applicants interested in promoting cultural and/or commercial relationships between Scandinavian nations and the United States

Award Types

Minimum of three awards available: 1. Cash-only award - sent to registered educational institute of award recipient 2. NCC Fisheries Scholarship - available to: - High school seniors or graduate students seeking careers in fisheries management or fisheries research in Pacific Northwest or Alaska - Students in fisheries technical schools (e.g., Maritime Academy) 3. International Summer School Scholarship - tuition and expenses for International Summer School at University of Oslo (limited to students who live or attend school in Washington)

Note: Award allocations may change depending on number of qualified candidates

    Eligibility

  • Interest in Norwegian-American ideals
  • Pursuing education in accredited institutions
  • For ISS scholarship: must live or attend school in Washington state
  • For Fisheries scholarship: high school seniors, graduate students, or technical school students

  • Merit-based evaluation
  • Financial need
  • Scholarship capability
  • Applicant activities
  • Alignment with fund objectives
  • Committee reviews applications blind (names removed)

    Fund Administration

  • 100% of all NCC scholarship funds used for scholarships
  • All administrative expenses borne by Norwegian Commercial Club
  • Managed by officers including President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and 3-12 trustees
  • Board members elected annually in May
