Norfolk Southern Trades on Track SkillPointe Scholarship Grant

The Norfolk Southern Trades on Track SkillPointe Scholarship offers $5,000 scholarships for students pursuing trades education related to the rail industry. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and focused on railway-related trades. With over 1,000 scholarships funded and a mission to close the skills gap, this initiative empowers individuals towards high-demand careers without requiring a four-year degree, ultimately strengthening the workforce and economy.

We’ve already funded 1,000+ vocational scholarships across 50 states and raised more than $5 million to create big opportunities for workers pursuing high-demand skills and the companies needing to hire them. We’re redefining scholarships, making awards at scale, and channeling trained workers into high-demand careers that don’t require a four-year degree.
Over 95% of scholarship recipients complete training. Median post-training income increase is +$32,000 in Year 1.

Eligibility

To be considered, candidate must comply with the following requirements:
Enrolled in a post-secondary educational/training institution and pursuing a trade related to the railway industry. Primary focus includes trades schools, community colleges, technical or vocational schools, railway training & certification programs, dual enrollment programs, 2 yr transitional programs to universities.
Eligible States: Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia.
Pursuing training related to a career in the railway industry. This includes, but is not limited to the following: Locomotive Engineers, Conductors, Track and Signal Maintenance, Mechanical and Equipment Maintenance (e.g., Diesel Mechanics, Railcar Technicians, Machinists), Welding, Electrical Engineers and/or Technicians, Safety and Operations (e.g., Dispatchers), Railroad Construction, and Heavy Equipment Operators.
