Nonprofit Resiliency and Recovery Fund

MCN, along with key advocacy partners, proposed to the Minnesota Legislature and Walz/Flanagan Administration a $50 million state-funded Nonprofit Resiliency and Recovery Fund to provide critical investment through general operating grants to nonprofit organizations.

Geographic Scope: Minnesota statewide

Funding Source: One-time federal relief funds to the state of Minnesota (from American Rescue Plan Act)

Eligibility:

• Nonprofit organizations delivering important services to Minnesotans
• Prioritized categories: small nonprofits, rural nonprofits, human services organizations, and culturally-specific nonprofits
• Geographic distribution: Half of funds reserved for seven-county metro area, half for Greater Minnesota nonprofits

Grant Type: General operating grants - providing flexible, unrestricted funding

Goals:

• Recognize nonprofits' ability to effectively identify and address local needs
• Support nonprofits' response to pandemic and associated challenges
• Accelerate more equitable recovery

• No or minimal reporting requirements from individual nonprofits
