Overview: First-of-its-kind hospitality sector grant program supporting community-based organizations that serve human trafficking survivors.

Geographic Scope: United States

  • Launched in 2022 as an expansion of the hotel and lodging industry's trafficking prevention efforts

  • Fund has grown to $3.4 million as of July 2023

  • 2023 inaugural grants: $500,000 awarded to four organizations:

  • - Safe House Project (Emergency Services Program)
    - Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) (Safe Jobs Collaborative)
    - Restore NYC, Inc. (Economic Empowerment Program)
    - University of Maryland Support, Advocacy, Freedom, and Empowerment (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors ("Future in Training" Hospitality Job Readiness Program)
  • AHLA Foundation matching contributions up to $5 million (with overall goal of $10 million by end of 2023)

  • Additional $500,000 contributed by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (January 2023)

  • $2 million+ raised from hotel companies including Hilton Global Foundation, Hyatt Hotels Foundation, Extended Stay America, and G6 Hospitality
  • Background: Announced at No Room for Trafficking Summit at Park Hyatt in Washington, D.C. (July 19, 2023). Represents unprecedented alignment by hotel industry in combatting trafficking.
