Who We Are

For 39 years, New Mexico Foundation (NMF) has worked to improve the quality of life for all residents of New Mexico. The only statewide foundation, NMF was started in 1983 by a small group of dedicated and visionary volunteers who believed in the power of Philanthropy as a tool for inspiring creative, community-based change and prosperity.

For 39 years, NMF has distinguished itself as a leader in philanthropy. Our progressive, grassroots approach to building stronger communities empowers community members to collaborate on critical issues by tapping into local resources and discovering the strength in themselves.

In 2019 we changed our name to better define our purpose and identity as the only community foundation serving the state of New Mexico. New Mexico Foundation’s new building is more centrally located, at 8 Calle Medico in Santa Fe. The larger building has space available for nonprofit community gatherings, workshops, and meetings.

What We Do

As a Community Foundation, we are serving the residents of New Mexico, are working together to build a stronger, healthier and more vibrant New Mexico.

We connect people who want to make changes in their communities with philanthropic projects that align with their areas of interest. Community health, Native American students, Chama Valley children, environmental permaculture and restoration are just a few of the issues our nonprofit partners are undertaking. NMF makes it easy for you to give where it matters most.

Our Mission

To steward community resources, build partnerships, and create opportunities that transform lives throughout New Mexico.
