NJSGA Caddie Scholarship

Overview: The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation has been providing financial assistance to deserving member club caddies striving for higher education since 1947, celebrating 60+ years of support.

Geographic Scope: New Jersey (NJSGA member clubs)

Award Details:

  • Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study

  • Minimum award increased to $3,500 per year (as of 2012)

  • Currently providing scholarship aid to 240+ students attending colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

  • In 65 years (as of 2012), more than $9 million has been provided to 2,600 caddie scholars

  • Maintains a 96 percent graduation rate
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have caddied at a NJSGA member club for at least two seasons

  • Selection based on:

  • - Scholastic achievement
    - College Board SAT scores
    - Financial need
    - Length and quality of service as a caddie

  • Nestor J. MacDonald Memorial Caddie Scholarship: Full tuition, fees, room, board, and book allowance for qualified applicants planning to attend Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey

  • Jay Petersen Memorial Scholarship: Four-year scholarship for Rutgers students

  • Eugene Harkins Family Scholarship: For North Jersey Country Club caddies, in memory of long-time caddie and former caddie master

  • Col. John McHugh Memorial Scholarship

  • Babs and Warren Collins Memorial Scholarships: Awarded to Rock Spring Golf Club caddies

  • Chandler Family Scholarship: Supports up to four Echo Lake caddies per year; provides $3,000 plus NJSGA scholarship
