New River Highlands Development Fund - Economic Development Grant

The New River Highlands Development Fund, established by the Beckley Area Foundation, aims to promote economic development in nine counties of Southern West Virginia. With a mission to inspire charitable giving, this fund currently has $12,500 available for grants. Eligible recipients include non-profits and public institutions that support economic initiatives in the area. This initiative seeks to enhance community welfare and stimulate growth in the New River Highlands region.

It began with a gift of $1.1 million from the Dr. BAF assets have grown to over $60 million more than 500 different funds managed by our three trustee banks.
Since its inception, BAF has distributed over $21 million to charities and other worthy projects in the fields of education, public recreation, health & human services, the arts, animal services and beautification.
​At the current time, this fund has $12,500 available to award.

Eligibility

The Foundation considers grant requests from organizations which are:Designated as a non-profit under Section 501-c-3 of the Internal Revenue Code or is a public institution, school or municipality. Programs funded must support economic development in the New River Highlands areas of Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Nicholas, Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Mercer, Monroe or Wyoming counties.Project or program must be completed by February 28, 2026.
