New Mexico Economic Development Grant

The New Mexico Economic Development Grant, provided by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to foster economic growth by supporting projects that enhance the tax base and create quality jobs in the region. It encourages private businesses to demonstrate their stability and potential for impact, aligning with the foundation's mission to connect community resources and promote prosperity across counties like Doña Ana and Luna.

We manage over 300 endowments, including 48 non-profit organizational endowments in Southern New Mexico, and are home to over 40 scholarships and nine annual grant cycles. As a center for charitable giving we support the arts, feed the hungry, expand literacy, improve health, and support countless other meaningful causes in the twelve counties including: Catron, Chaves, Doña Ana, Eddy, Grant, Hidalgo, Lea, Lincoln, Luna, Otero, Sierra & Socorro.
The purpose of this grant is to support private businesses, projects and organizations that make or will make a measurable difference in achieving economic growth and development, expanding and diversifying the tax base, and creating new quality jobs within El Paso Electric’s New Mexico service territory.

Eligibility

Projects Must:Show a clear demonstration of public purpose and economic benefit through advancement of the region’s economic goals which include:expanding the tax basecreating quality economic-based jobsincreasing private capital investment in the community spurring developmentInclude solid evidence provided by the business that demonstrates the business’s financial stability and capacity to complete the projectBe in compliance with all local, state and federal lawsDescription of Economic-Based Industry/Jobs, which applicants must demonstrate their ability to create:Economic growth and prosperity within Doña Ana, Luna, Otero and Sierra counties depends on sectors that export goods and/or services to customers outside of the region.These sectors are known as “economic-based industries/jobs”.These economic-based industries stimulate local economic growth by bringing jobs and income into the Doña Ana, Luna, Otero and Sierra counties economy.
