Geographic Scope: Nepal

Program Focus: Identifies and supports "accountapreneurs" (individuals, groups or organizations that demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to accountability issues) with catalytic grants for small-scale, innovative and sustainable approaches to accountability and transparency.

Funding Structure

• Seed grants: Up to US$2,000 to successful applicants
• Matching requirement: Grant-winners must contribute 10% matching funds themselves
• Staged disbursement: Initial grant of $1,000 followed by a further grant of up to $1,000 after a six-month period if accountapreneurship activities show promise and progress against agreed benchmarks

Eligible Focus Areas

• Innovative ideas at all levels (national to village level)
• Objective of making powerholders and decision-makers accountable across sectors:
- Public and government ministries and offices - Private sector organizations and business - Donors and NGOs - Other individuals and organizations making decisions affecting the public good
• Ideas that move beyond one-off activities, meetings and trainings
• Use of new technologies within project ideas is encouraged
• Ideas must demonstrate feasibility, scalability and sustainability

• Applicant types: Individuals, groups, or organizations
