Rochester Area Community Foundation, in partnership with generous philanthropists and community partners, works to improve the quality of life for people who live and work in the eight-county region through its leadership and strategic grantmaking.

• Encouraging generosity and civic unity;
• Addressing urgent and persistent challenges;
• Engaging donors, nonprofits, and other advocates;
• Escalating strategic responses and resources;
• Elevating broad community voice; and
• Inspiring positive, enduring community change.

Purpose

To encourage all very young children and their families, not just those who are deaf or unable to speak, to communicate more effectively through access to signing instruction and support.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations within the eight-county region around Rochester (Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties).

Ineligibility

• The Community Foundation’s competitive grants program generally does not fund special events, fundraising campaigns, religious activities, endowments, buildings (except for historical assets), or debt retirement.
