Jackson Narcomey Scholarship Description Jackson Narcomey was born on January 25, 1942 at W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital in Tahlequah, OK. Jackson's father and mother, the late Reverend Raymond and Frances Narcomey raised Jackson and his siblings in Eufaula, OK which is located in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. At a later date, Jackson returned to Tahlequah where he attended Sequoyah Indian School and where he met Mr. Riley White, an art instructor that influenced and impacted his art career. It was from Mr. White that Jackson learned various art methods including silk screen. Jackson began his professional art career in the early 1970's which included not only traditional flat style paintings, but abstract paintings and sculpture pieces. Jackson won many major art awards and recognition throughout the state of Oklahoma and at the international level. Not only did Jackson produce wonderful art work, he mastered the techniques of matting and framing. In the mid 1990's, Jackson began a new adventure by purchasing a silk screen press and designing and silk screening his own works of art. Jackson further created a successful line of t-shirts which were available and marketed at pow-wows and Indian art shows throughout eastern Oklahoma. Jackson's paintings can be found in private and museum collections from Albuquerque, NM, to New York, NY, and in the state of Oklahoma.
