Overview

Morency Family Scholarship The Morency Foster Youth Scholarship is intended to assist current foster care young adults to better themselves through continuing education. The Morency Family Scholarship was established to assist young adults with bettering themselves through continuing education and/or training. The primary focus of the scholarship is to assist individuals who financially might not otherwise be able to continue their education or training after graduation from high school. The number of scholarships awarded may vary from year to year. The target is to award at least two scholarships per year – one each to an Iowa and to an Illinois resident. Need-based: Yes. Amount: Up to $2,000 a year. Renewable: Yes, until graduation, or until 25 years of age, whichever comes first. Renewal Conditions: Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and continue to meet other scholarship criteria.

Applicant must be graduating or have graduated from a high school that is located in Carroll County, IL; Rock Island County, IL; Whiteside County, IL; Clinton County, IA; Muscatine County, IA; or Scott County, IA.Applicants receiving GED certification are also eligible to apply.Applicant must have at least a 2.0 GPA but no more than a 3.0 GPA (Higher GPAs may be considered, if necessary, to award all available scholarships).Applicant must be enrolled in, or have been accepted into an educational institution/program and intend on working towards a degree, diploma, certificate of completion, etc.Scholarships may be used to attend any accredited college or university (including online universities), or to receive vocational training/education.Financial need is the primary consideration.
