MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program

The MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program was established in 2021 by APA's Division of Diversity and Health Equity (DDHE) and the APA Foundation to support community organizations that have undertaken innovative awareness programs and/or have provided services to improve the mental health of young people of color.

Grant recipients will be selected based on one or more of the following initiatives focused on young people of color:

* Delivering innovative programming that addresses mental health and substance use disorder inequities.
* Promoting awareness of mental health and substance use disorder inequities.
* Increasing equitable access to mental health and substance use disorder care.
* Enhancing the quality of culturally and linguistically appropriate services in mental health and substance use disorder care.

Funding

The MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program awards will be in the total amount of $10,000 for a two-year funding period contingent on the first year being successfully completed.

* To be eligible for the MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
* Be a U.S. based non-profit community organization certified as tax exempt in accordance with criteria set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), or 501(c)(6) of the U.S. Tax Code.
* Address one or more of our stated initiatives noted above.
* Demonstrate recent efforts toward addressing mental health and substance use disorder inequities experienced by young people of color.
* Provide a scalable and sustainable plan.
* Have been operational for at least two consecutive years.
* Committed to participating in quarterly MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program virtual meetings.
* For organizations operating as an unincorporated state or community coalitions, a designated fiscal agent must be identified in your application.

Ineligibility

* The MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program will not provide grants to:
* Individuals;
* For-profit organizations;
* Any organization that does not have an IRS Section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), or 501(c)(6) tax exempt status;
* Any organization that discriminates against individuals on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other basis protected by law in your state and/or any federal anti-discrimination statute or regulation; and
* Organizations requesting funding for capital improvement initiatives.
