MOM Scholarship Program
Funder: Meherrin on Mission (MOM), Severn, NC
Mission: Meherrin on Mission is dedicated to investing in those that help make the Meherrin family successful through financial scholarships to employees attending seminary, their children attending community college or bachelor programs, and children of Meherrin's customers attending agricultural schools.
- Two-year institution: $1,500 ($750 per semester)
- Four-year institution: $3,000 ($1,500 per semester)
- Students enrolled in less than 12 credit hours receive 50% of the full amount
- Funding condition: Scholarship funds awarded upon evidence of registration in an accredited higher educational institution
Award Amounts
- North Carolina and surrounding states (Virginia Tech, Clemson, University of Georgia/ABAC also eligible for customer children)
Geographic Scope
- Applicant must be employed by a Meherrin family company
- Minimum 6 months employment required
- Education must be for Bible College/Seminary (other areas of study may consult tuition reimbursement program)
- Minimum 2.50 GPA (B- average) for four-year institutions
- Minimum 2.0 GPA (C or higher) for two-year institutions
- 40 hours of community involvement in past 12 months required
- Must demonstrate community involvement, academic improvement, and desire to attend college
- Cannot be related to Meherrin Board of Directors, MOM Board of Directors, or Scholarship Selection Committee
Eligibility - Employees
- Parent must be employed by Meherrin family company (minimum 6 months)
- Age 17-26 by August 1st (full-time students)
- No restriction on area of study
- Minimum 2.50 GPA for four-year institutions
- Minimum 2.0 GPA for two-year institutions
- 40 hours of community involvement in past 12 months required
- Cannot be related to Meherrin Board of Directors, MOM Board of Directors, or Scholarship Selection Committee
Eligibility - Employee Children/Dependents
- Must meet all employee child/dependent criteria above
- PLUS must be enrolled in Ag and Life Science program at NC State University, Virginia Tech, Clemson, University of Georgia, or ABAC
- OR attending Bible College/Seminary
Eligibility - Children of Customers/Vendors
- Parent must still be employed with Meherrin family company
- Must be currently enrolled in two-year or four-year institution
- Must maintain minimum 2.5 GPA (B- average)
- GPA 1.8-2.5: Placed on probation; must maintain above 2.5 in probationary semester or become ineligible
- GPA below 1.8: Ineligible until achieving 2.5+ GPA; must reapply

#### Required Submission Items:
1. Completed application form
2. College acceptance letter or current student enrollment documentation
3. Recent high school transcript with cumulative GPA and class standing/rank
4. Personal Essay addressing: "What is your purpose in life - and how does your educational future help fulfill that goal?"
- Must contain no grammatical errors
5. Documentation of community involvement hours (minimum 40 hours in past 12 months)
