MJF Impact Focused Funding

Overview: A pilot project allowing Community Campaign donors to direct portions of their gifts toward specific community-identified priorities and grant projects. Year 2 of the 3-year pilot (2024-2026).

Geographic Scope: Minneapolis Jewish community and international (Israel & Overseas)

  • Stabilize and increase camp scholarships
  • Increase Jewish camp participation
  • Young adults conference

    Israel & Overseas

  • Investing in signature program – JDC Horizons
  • Building local engagement for global need

Award Information:

  • Minimum gift: $100 per priority

  • Maximum: Up to 10% of annual Community Campaign gift per priority

  • Goal: Raise additional $860,000 over 3 years, matched by Federation funds for total community investment of $1.7 million

  • Year 1 Results: $480,127 invested from 2023 Community Campaign for 2024-2026 implementation

    • Funding Approach:

  • Multiple organizations work within each priority

  • Funds allocated to collectively move priorities forward

  • Base allocations to partners guaranteed in 2024, 2025, and 2026

    • How It Works:

  • Donors can contribute to multiple priorities (minimum $100 each)

  • Up to 10% of overall Community Campaign gift can be directed to IFF

  • Rest of gift supports unrestricted base allocations

  • Pilot period allows for testing and refinement

    • Evaluation and Accountability:

  • Regular community communication through newsletters and website updates

  • Surveys, interviews, and data analysis

  • Comparison to national benchmarks

    How to Make an Impact Focused Gift

    1. Choose a Priority - Select from Caring Community, Jewish Education, Jewish Identity and Engagement, or Israel & Overseas priorities

    2. Make a Contribution - Minimum $100 per priority

    3. Submit Contribution:
    - Online: Through Community Campaign online portal
    - Add comment in Donation Notes: "I would like $____ of my donation to go towards the ______________ IFF Priority."

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Minimum $100 gift per priority
    • Gift to Impact Focused Funding should not exceed 10% of annual Community Campaign gift
    • Donors can contribute to multiple priorities (each with minimum $100)
