Mill Foundation Grant

The Mill Foundation Grant supports programs that benefit disadvantaged youth in the Rockford region, aiming to instill values and life skills. The foundation prioritizes innovative proposals that demonstrate clear goals and effective management. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and serve the greater Rockford area. Grants typically last one year, with the possibility of multi-year commitments. However, funding is not provided for ongoing operational expenses or campaigns.

The Mill Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that provides funding to those programs and organizations which benefit the Rockford region’s disadvantaged youth, ultimately giving them the values, behaviors and life skills that will lead to responsible and productive lives.

Criteria
The MILL looks for proposals which:

• Articulate innovative, visionary and meaningful goals
• Are thoughtful, anticipatory, with some risk taking
• Present clear, specific and measureable plans
• Demonstrate quality, effectiveness and good management
• Provide for long-range fund development beyond the grant funding period

Eligibility

General Requirements  stated: Be compatible with the Mission Statement of the MILL Foundation, as: Be a 501©(3) tax-exempt, not-for-profit agency Provide services within the greater Rockford area, which includes the counties of Boone, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago.Provide report on measurable outcomes. Grants are usually made for one year only; but under certain circumstances, a multi-year commitment may be considered. Organizations awarded a grant previously may now apply on an annual basis.

Ineligibility

In general, grants are not made from the MILL Foundation for the following:

• Annual campaigns
• Generally not on-going deficit budgets
• Endowments
• Individuals
• Ongoing operating expenses and project support
• Re-granting of funds
• Projects or programs that promote a religion or require participation in a

religious activity as a condition for receiving services. However, grants  may be made to faith-based organizations for other purposes. Organizations that restrict services, facilities or employment provided by the
grant based on race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
