Program Name: Michael J. Day AFSCAN Scholarship (formerly Colin F. Burrows International African Small Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN) Scholarship)

Overview: Annual international veterinary scholarship recognizing and fostering international veterinary leaders, particularly those working to advance companion animal veterinary care in Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Background

  • Founded in 1995 as the NAVC International Scholarship Program
  • Renamed in 2020 to honor Emeritus Professor Michael J. Day, an internationally recognized leader in animal medicine and pioneering figure in advancing clinical care for companion animals in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • NAVC partnered with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) and WSAVA Foundation in 2015 to enhance candidate selection
  • Over 70 scholarships awarded since 1995

  • All-expenses paid trip to Orlando's Veterinary Meeting and Expo (VMX)
