Overview

NOTE: Applications will only be considered if submitted at least six weeks before the meeting is to be held to assure adequate time to review the submission and complete follow up with the applicant as needed. About MeHAF works with a wide variety of partners, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, health care organizations, and more to carry out our mission of promoting access to quality health care and improving the health of everyone in Maine. We offer responsive grant opportunities, a Discretionary Grants program for small, discrete, projects, and Meeting Support grants for local and statewide meetings. Meeting Support Program MeHAF’s Meeting Support program provides grants for meetings that have a focus or objectives relevant to MeHAF’s mission and that are related to groups or populations that face disproportionate barriers to accessing health services and achieving their best possible health. We generally award grants of up to $1,000 for community or regional meetings and grants of up to $2,000 for statewide meetings. Grants should support meetings that address barriers to health and health care for Maine’s most vulnerable populations and have a broad base of community support or include community collaboration. MeHAF grants may be used to fund costs such as, but not limited to: Meeting Facilitator/Presenters Guest speakers and related travel expenses Stipends and travel costs for members of the community to attend

Ineligibility

The Meeting Support program does not provide funding for operational costs, trainings for individual staff members, or events that function primarily as fundraisers.Across all funding opportunities, MeHAF does not fund the following activities:Direct care costs Public awareness campaigns focused on a specific disease or health condition Fundraising efforts Capital expenditures Academic or graduate research Grants or scholarships to individuals
