MECA Memorial Scholarship

Funder: Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association (MECA), funded from donations provided in memory of rural electric directors, employees and friends

Award Amount: $500

Geographic Scope: MECA Southeast District including Goldenwest Electric, Mid-Yellowstone Electric, Southeast Electric, Tongue River Electric and Yellowstone Valley Electric

Overview: Regional scholarship competition for deserving students pursuing post-secondary education. One $500 scholarship awarded from the MECA Southeast District annually.

Eligibility

• Applicant or parent/guardian must be a member of Southeast Electric
• Applicant must be a high school graduate planning to enter college/Vo-Tech in the fall, OR currently in a college undergraduate program
• Must submit completed application form
• Must detail how school/community/work activities will influence goals and career choice
• One letter of recommendation must accompany the application

Award Details

• Funds dispersed upon proof of enrollment in college/university or vocational technical school
• Monies sent directly to the financial aid office of the chosen school
• Must be claimed by December 31, 2026, or money will be forfeited

Selection Process

• Southeast Electric will select scholarship finalists
• MECA Scholarship Committee chooses final recipient from MECA Southeast District
