Scholarships Grand Haven Area Community Foundation scholarships are awarded competitively based on criteria set by donors. The Community Foundation has a rigorous internal selection process for each scholarship decision, and each applicant is reviewed in depth, and considered thoroughly. Our scholarship program is simple. You are able to apply once for all foundation scholarships you may be eligible for. Once your application is submitted, you will be eligible for all those for which you meet the requirement. Mary E. Wilsberg Scholarship Mary attended school in Grand Haven, graduating high school in 1943. She graduated from University of Michigan with a BA in education in 1947 and an MA in 1952. She received her Doctorate (Ed.D.) in teaching and curriculum development from Columbia University, Teachers College in New York City in 1964. In 1988, Mary established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to a Grand Haven or Spring Lake High School student who not only has excelled academically but has also demonstrated well-rounded community participation and service to others.

The recipient will demonstrate that they are an active member of their school and community, with an emphasis on well-rounded community participation and service to others. Financial need is not a consideration and the recipient will have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 for all previous college/university courseworkIn addition to the application, you’ll have to submit the following documents:A copy of your high school or college transcriptAny additional required documents for specific scholarships (like recommendation letters).Page 1 of the Student Aid Report with your Student Aid Index (SAI) included on the form.
