Maria S. Gomez Scholarship for Nursing

A scholarship program created by Mary's Center to honor founder and former President and CEO Maria S. Gomez by supporting nursing education and building healthier communities.

Purpose: The scholarship is designed to help Mary's Center's entry-level staff build a pathway toward a brighter and sustainable future by pursuing nursing degrees.

• Current Mary's Center entry-level staff
• Those pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in nursing

What the Scholarship Covers:

• Tuition
• Books
• Other support to ensure students graduate and start successful nursing careers

Background: Maria S. Gomez, RN, MPH, founded Mary's Center as a public health nurse with a vision of providing healthcare and opportunities for underserved communities. As a first-generation Latina immigrant, she faced barriers to achieving her nursing degree including lack of mentorship, financial aid, and juggling schoolwork with full-time employment. Through this scholarship, Mary's Center continues her legacy of opening educational opportunities.
