Eligibility

• Current 10th grade students in Maine high schools
• Planning to attend Maine Coast Semester during junior year
• Top 20% of their class academically
• Support from a school or community leader
• Demonstrated appreciation for the natural world
• Vision for creating positive change in Maine community

About the Award

• Merit-based scholarship for two Maine students annually
• Covers approximately one-half of Maine Coast Semester tuition and fees
• For participation in Maine Coast Semester at Chewonki during junior year
• Semester-long academically rigorous residential program in Wiscasset, Maine

Program Description

Maine Coast Semester focuses on transformative growth, appreciation and stewardship of the natural world, and building sustainable communities. Learning takes place in classrooms, in the field, on the coast, at the farm, in the forest, and on extended wilderness trips. Students explore human ecology concepts—the intersection between humans and their natural, social, and built environments.
