Mack Ness Fund Stanley Stone Special Grant

Geographic Scope: Negev region, Israel

Focus Areas: Social and economic innovation in the Negev region

Award Purpose: This annual award supports an outstanding Negev resident who develops creative and innovative solutions to social or economic problems unique to the Negev.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a Negev resident

  • Must research and design a new, creative, and innovative solution to a social or economic problem

  • Solution must involve collaborative efforts among organizations

  • Developer must be a strong lead young individual

  • Must demonstrate efforts to connect with and attract additional funders

  • Individual must be associated with an NGO or amuta (registered Israeli nonprofit)

  • All organizations must be registered amutas in Israel with Nihul Takin status from the Registrar of NGOs (Rasham HaAmutot)
  • Award Details:

  • Funds awarded annually

  • Award amount: $5,000

  • Funds are awarded to the organization for the benefit of the recipient to support solution development
  • Background:
    The Mack Ness Fund was established in 2005 from the legacy of Mack Ness, a Jewish farmer from New Jersey. The fund aims to support economic and demographic development of the Negev, particularly among young populations.

    Submission Requirements:

    Applications must include the following information in no more than two pages in English, plus attachments:

    1. Applicant Information:
    - Name and email of applicant

    2. Innovator Idea (required):
    - What is the problem or challenge you seek to address?
    - What are your short-term and long-term visions for the success of your idea or project?
    - Have you created any similar projects?

    3. Geographic Focus (required):
    - Which cities/towns/regional councils will be targeted?

    4. Partnership (required):
    - Do you plan to have partner organizations on this project?
    - Describe the current and proposed role of the partners

    5. Timeline (required):
    - What is the timeline of operation for this program?

    6. Budget (required):
    - What is the program's overall (full) budget?
    - What is the specific request from the Mack Ness Fund?
    - What are potentially leveraged funds (if relevant)?
    - Please list any other known or potential partners for funding

    7. Organization Information (required):
    - Organization name and address
    - Amuta status in Israel (with renewal date)

    Required Attachments:

    • Recommendation letters: No more than three (3) letters of recommendation
    • Resume: Current resume with a short paragraph about yourself and your journey
    • Personal Statement: Explanation of why the problem you seek to address is important to you and the 'why' behind starting this initiative
