Overview: The 23rd Annual Ma Brown Scholarship Program awards a $2,000 scholarship to a qualified member. This is an annual scholarship program that has been running for over 20 years, helping young members achieve financial and academic success.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • High school senior graduating in Spring 2026
  • Full-time enrollment at an accredited college/university or trade/vocational school in Fall 2026
  • Must be a credit union member in good standing for a minimum of 6 months (note: earlier documentation mentioned 12 months)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 or greater
  • Must have own Public Safety Credit Union membership

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Write Original Essay
- Maximum 1,000 words
- Essay Topic Questions:
1. What is the name of the school you plan to attend, and why did you select that school?
2. Credit Union philosophy is "People Helping People". What is one way you plan to impact your community in the future, and why is that important to you?
- Must be typed and double-spaced using 11-point font
- Include full name in bottom right-hand corner
- Judged on proper use of grammar, spelling, ideas, and content
- Applicant identity will be concealed until selection process is complete

2. Provide Official High School Transcript
- Must be official transcript from high school

3. Submit Activities/Extracurricular/Community Service Resume
- List all activities during high school years
- Include: clubs, sports, social activities, school-based activities, religious organizations, community organizations, volunteer work, etc.

4. Complete Scholarship Application Form
- Available online or as printable form
- Required fields include:
- Full name and Credit Union account number
- Current address
- High school name and GPA
- High school graduation date (MM/DD/YYYY format)
- College/school attending Fall 2026
- Future occupation
- Student signature (certifying information is true and complete)
- Parent/guardian signature (certifying information is true and complete)
- Authorization for photo/name use for publicity purposes

5. Submit All Materials
- Submit via online form or print and mail/email

  • Proper use of grammar and spelling
