The Community Foundation has a rigorous internal selection process for each scholarship decision, and each applicant is reviewed in depth, and considered thoroughly. Our scholarship program is simple. You are able to apply once for all foundation scholarships you may be eligible for. Once your application is submitted, you will be eligible for all those for which you meet the requirement. Louise Wachter Wickham Scholarship Fund This Memorial Fund was established in 1997 by Donna Wickham Furth, in honor of her mother, Louise Wachter Wickham, a longtime elementary public school teacher in the Spring Lake and Grand Haven area. This scholarship fund has been established to assist students to obtain a degree in elementary education. Louise valued education. When she and her sister graduated from junior high, their family did not intend to send them to high school. It was only through the intervention of the school principal, who implored their father to permit them to complete high school in Grand Haven, along with both girls working to cover their own living expenses, that allowed Louise to go on to teach. As Louise said, "I am a teacher. I touch the future."
