Overview: A partnership between the Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) Foundation and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Foundation to support workforce education in Louisiana's trucking and transportation logistics industry.

Background: LMTA Foundation's $100,000 pledge supports the scholarship program, which provides current and prospective students greater access to training programs related to transportation and logistics. The program assists students in pursuit of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and develops valuable skills necessary in the trucking and logistics industry.

Award Amount: $5,000 - $5,500 toward tuition and fees

Focus Areas:

Eligibility Requirements - Applicants must meet ALL qualifications in at least one of the following groups:

Group 1 (Current LCTCS Students):

Group 2 (Prospective Students):

Ride Along Definition: Eight hours in one day spent as a passenger (observer) with a motor carrier (a vehicle used to transport passengers or property for compensation)

Purpose: To address the unprecedented shortage of workers in the trucking industry by providing win-win opportunities for businesses seeking employees and unemployed or underemployed people looking to enter the workforce.
