LMTA Foundation & LCTCS Transportation Workforce Scholarship

A partnership between the Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) Foundation and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Foundation to support workforce education in Louisiana's trucking and transportation logistics industry.

Background: LMTA Foundation's $100,000 pledge supports the scholarship program, which provides current and prospective students greater access to training programs related to transportation and logistics. The program assists students in pursuit of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and develops valuable skills necessary in the trucking and logistics industry.

Group 1 (Current LCTCS Students):

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be currently enrolled in an LCTCS college
• Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a Transportation and Logistics program with emphasis on CDL programs
• Must plan on participating in a minimum 8-hour ride along with a trucking company

Group 2 (Prospective Students):

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be a prospective student making an application to an LCTCS college
• Must be planning to enroll in a Transportation and Logistics program with emphasis on CDL programs
• Must plan on participating in a minimum 8-hour ride along with a trucking company

Ride Along Definition: Eight hours in one day spent as a passenger (observer) with a motor carrier (a vehicle used to transport passengers or property for compensation)

Purpose: To address the unprecedented shortage of workers in the trucking industry by providing win-win opportunities for businesses seeking employees and unemployed or underemployed people looking to enter the workforce.

How to Apply:

2. Log in using your LOLA login credentials (for LCTCS students)
3. Complete the application form through the portal
