Literature Awards: Drug Therapy Research The ASHP Foundation Literature Awards Program: The Drug Therapy Research Award recognizes outstanding original research contributions to the peer-reviewed, primary, biomedical literature that address the therapeutic uses of medications. These can include studies of efficacy, effectiveness, safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics, and other pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical sciences research. This award is not intended to recognize practice-based or health services research (see the Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice or the Pharmacy Practice Research Award). The recipient of this award receives: $3000 honorarium.Public announcement via press release and other Foundation communication channels.Public recognition at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting.A plaque commemorating their work. Author The author who applies (i.e., applicant) must be a pharmacist.The applicant must be either the first, corresponding, or senior author listed on the submitted article.The applicant must have participated in each of the following: Substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content.A recipient of the Drug Therapy Research Award is eligible to apply for the category after 5 years.ArticlesThe article submitted for the Drug Therapy Research Award must have been published in a PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed biomedical journal in the 2023 calendar year (January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023). Print or electronic articles that were published in 2023 are eligible for consideration. Articles that were published electronically in 2022 and in print in 2023 are not eligible for consideration if the electronic version was submitted for consideration in the 2023 Literature Awards Program cycle. An article may be submitted to one award category during a program cycle.

Ineligibility

Selection panel members, ASHP staff members, ASHP Foundation staff members, members of the ASHP Foundation Board of Directors, and members of the ASHP Board of Directors are not eligible to apply for this award.
