The ASCAP Foundation We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supported by contributions from ASCAP members and music fans throughout the United States. We operate and support vital programs that impact millions of music creators and music lovers of all ages every year. Leiber & Stoller Music Scholarship About The late Jerry Leiber and his partner Mike Stoller, writer of such hits as “Hound Dog,” “Kansas City,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Stand By Me,” “On Broadway,” and “Is That All There Is?” developed and funded The ASCAP Foundation Leiber & Stoller Scholarship program. This scholarship provides assistance to high school seniors who will be attending college majoring in music. They should be aspiring songwriters, musicians or vocalists who will study at a college or university. Criteria Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges based on the following criteria: music and lyric writing, the song’s overall craft, artistry and compositional elements. Prize

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration for the Award, an entrant must be:A high school senior who will enroll in a four-year college or university level music program on a full-time basis during the next academic year. If the applicant is younger than 18 years but older than 13 years and will be attending college or a university, then a parent or guardian must complete the application and a parental consent formA U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or enrolled student with a valid and current U.S. student visa andA musician, songwriter, composer, lyricist, arranger and who writes original works.Songs must be written by one person.SubmissionEligible Entrants will be invited to enter the Competition by either their school administrator, an ASCAP representative or by The ASCAP Foundation.To enter the Competition, eligible Entrants must submit the following:an .mp3 file containing the song that is to be considered for the Award;a lyric sheet for such song, if applicable, as either a Word document or a PDF (Each line of lyrics should be numbered and stanzas should be labeled with intro, verse, chorus, bridge; lyrics must not contain profanities, vulgarities and/or derogatory language, each in the Foundation’s sole discretion);a completed online application forma signed parental consent form for minors younger than 18 years but older than 13; a short biography; anda brief summary of the Entrant’s musical goals (up to 500 words)

Ineligibility

Entrants must not be currently signed to a “major” publishing, record or administrative deal, as determined by the Foundation in its sole discretion.Songs with a co-writer are not accepted at this time.Void where prohibited by law and outside the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Judges of the Award or anyone involved in the Judging Procedure as set forth in the Award Requirements are not permitted to enter or win the Award. Employees, officers and directors of the Foundation, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and any affiliated company, organization or entity, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in the Award. For purpose of the foregoing, “immediate family” means parents, spouses, children, siblings or any members of the same households of such employees, officers and directors.
