We accomplish this by: Inspiring individuals to respond to community needs through charitable givingBringing resources and ideas together to identify common community needs and goals and propose solutions Creating funds to support the many facets of society that make a community worth living in including arts and culture, community and economic development, education and scholarships, social services and youth issues, health and wellness, environment and historic preservation. Leadership Carbon 'Spirit of Volunteerism' Scholarship Fund Established by the 2023-24 Leadership Carbon Class at Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation, the Leadership Carbon ‘Spirit of Volunteerism’ Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance to area students who demonstrate a commitment to volunteering and community-mindedness. The Spirit of Volunteerism Scholarship shall be a one-year, non-renewable scholarship of at least $500 awarded annually to a qualified high school senior (or home-schooled student who has a state-recognized graduation certificate/diploma) residing in Carbon County, PA, and/or graduating from a Carbon County School District. The Spirit of Volunteerism Scholarship may be used for any education, certification, or course that will provide continued education in the candidate’s field of study.

Minimum qualifications for the scholarship include:A proven track record of volunteering and commitment to the Carbon County communityCandidates will be asked to provide a list of their volunteer and community activities and should submit a short essay (500 words or less) to describe why volunteering is important to him or her.A letter of recommendation should also be submitted from the supervisor at the organization where candidate volunteers his or her time.
