Overview

NOTE: First-time applicants are requested to contact Light a Single Candle Foundation's program officer in advance of completing an application. New partners will first need to submit a Letter of Inquiry. If you are an established partner of Light a Single Candle Foundation, please contact our Program Officer for your access code. Unsolicited proposals for grants are welcome at any time throughout the year. The Board of Directors reviews proposals quarterly. The submission deadlines are represented by the Full Proposal deadlines. Requests received after the deadline dates will be reviewed at the following meeting. About the Foundation Light A Single Candle is a private foundation dedicated to the relief of poverty through effective partnerships that target: Food support, food security and food sustainability;  Youth and Family Development & Youth at RiskDevelopment of individuals, families, and communities toward self-determination and an improved standard of living . We believe the need for food and economic sustainability is basic to all poverty solutions. We are motivated by faith in God and values based initiatives and programs, but are not limited to the support of faith-based partnerships.

Eligibility

Recipient organization must be a not for profit USA based 501 (c) (3) public charity as defined by the Internal Revenue Service code. Projects to be considered must be located within the City of St. Louis, Missouri or North St. Louis County (North County).Projects to be funded will address one of the following LASC Focus Areas:Youth and Family Development & Youth at RiskFood InsecurityEducationBy Personal Invitation from LASCRequests greater than $5,000 will require a site visit. LASC will accept applications for program, operational or capacity building funding.
