Khyentse Foundation: Buddhist Studies Scholarship Grant

The Khyentse Foundation offers Buddhist Studies Scholarships to support individuals pursuing the dharma across various traditions. These scholarships assist with tuition and related expenses for students, practitioners, and scholars working towards degrees or certificates. Applications are reviewed by international committees to ensure a fair selection process. Awards typically range from $500 to $5,000 USD, aligning with the foundation's mission to promote the teachings of the Buddha and make them accessible to all.

Grant Philosophy
Supporting Buddhist Study and practice is at the heart of Khyentse Foundation’s mission, and our grants and scholarships programs are the way we connect with you and learn about your work. There are a number of ways to apply, and we support a wide range of dharma studies, practice, and activities.
Our applicants are Buddhist teachers, students, scholars, educators, translators, practitioners, and retreatants. In the nonsectarian spirit of the Khyentse lineage, we support all Buddhist traditions from all parts of the world. Each application is reviewed by international review committees, appointed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.

For a grassroots effort in India or Nepal? Or do you have your own ideas about how to bring the dharma to the world? Consider applying for one of our grants or scholarships.
Khyentse Foundation Buddhist Studies Scholarships support individuals who wish to study the dharma. KF accepts applications from students, practitioners, and scholars from all traditions, schools, and sects of Buddhism. These scholarships fund tuition or other expenses related to one’s studies. Applicants for this scholarship are usually working toward a BA, MA, or MPhil degree, or are in a certificate program.
Students applying for funding to attend Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Nepal must apply directly to RYI. KF gives RYI an annual grant to use for financial aid for ordained sangha, lay students, and work-study participants. For more information, go to the RYI site.

Buddhist Studies Scholarship awards are usually in the $500 to $5,000 USD range. Awards may be more depending on the proposal.
