Overview: Annual scholarship awards recognizing outstanding graduating medical and nursing students who demonstrate an interest in palliative care and end-of-life issues. The awards honor Dr. Khader K. Hussein, a former board member of the Hospice Foundation of Oklahoma who has mentored countless medical and nursing students.

Geographic Scope: Central Oklahoma

Eligibility:

  • Graduating medical students

  • Graduating nursing students

  • Demonstrated interest in palliative care and end-of-life issues

  • Students from accredited schools in the region (OU College of Medicine, OU Ziegler College of Nursing, SNU School of Nursing, OCU Kramer School of Nursing, UCO Department of Nursing)
  • Award Amount: $2,000 per recipient

    About Dr. Hussein: Dr. Khader K. Hussein is a doctor of oncology and hematology at Integris Health in Oklahoma City. He has offered comfort to patients facing serious illnesses since 1967 and has mentored countless medical and nursing students during his 50+ years of service, teaching them to provide patients with quality moments without hospital confinement.
