Overview

The Kauffman Foundation's Project Grant aims to empower organizations to design and implement impactful multiyear projects that enhance economic mobility in the Kansas City region. Funding of $250,000 or more per year is available for projects focusing on education, skills development, and community engagement. While primarily serving the Kansas City area, grants may also be awarded to organizations from outside the region that can demonstrate a significant impact on local communities.

Our grantmaking will be aligned to our strategic priorities and focus areas, driving toward our goal of equitable economic mobility for Kansas Citians.
Project Grants provide funding for an organization to design and implement, or scale a multiyear project that will drive impact across our strategic priorities while prioritizing the neighborhoods with the highest potential to close economic mobility gaps in the Kansas City region. Project Grants should center on our focus areas that unlock learner potential or clear the path through education and employer connection, essential competencies and skills, equitable access, or participation and belonging.

Eligibility

We make grants to organizations that are not 501(c)(3) public charities, including to social welfare organizations [501(c)(4)], trade associations and chambers of commerce [501(c)(6)], and for-profit enterprises, among others.While we are foregrounding our work in the Kansas City region to achieve our vision, we are not immediately excluding organizations located elsewhere.
