JTF College STEM Program - Nurture Underserved College Students
Overview: A 4-year comprehensive support program designed to change the lives and careers of talented but economically disadvantaged first-generation college students pursuing STEM studies at premier technical institutions.
- 4 years of continuous financial and educational support
- Early intervention starting at beginning of college experience
- Ongoing support through JTF STEM network for graduates
Program Duration
- Primary: India
- Target Institutions: IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and NIITs (National Institute of Indian Technology)
Geographic Scope
- Economically disadvantaged students
- First-generation college students
- Socially disadvantaged backgrounds
- Students from rural regions
- Academically gifted despite economic constraints
Target Population
- Financial Assistance: 4-year scholarship funding for tuition and education costs
- Mentoring: Regular mentoring sessions with JTF STEM mentors
- Soft Skills Training: Interview preparation and skills training
- Communication Coaching: English language and communication skill development
- Self-Confidence Building: Supplemental sessions for confidence and professional development
- Career Development: Job placement support and career guidance
- Post-Graduate Support: Ongoing support through JTF STEM network for graduates pursuing further studies or employment

- Partnership with Foundation for Excellence (FFE) for administration
- Volunteer mentoring support through JTF STEM Network
- Corporate partnerships (USA and Indian) for job placements
Program Model
- Cost Efficient: Less than $750 per year per student
- 4-Year Total: $3,000 per student

- Job placement within 3 months of graduation
- Nearly 100% success rate
- Over 90% of graduates placed in jobs
- Remaining graduates pursue graduate studies or competitive civil service exams
- Graduates develop spirit of giving back to society

- 12 initial scholars (including 3 women)
- Attending IITs and NIITs
- Rural background students
- First college graduates from families
