Joint ACG-FDA Fellowship Program

Overview: A one-month rotation at the FDA sponsored by ACG, providing gastroenterology fellows with first-hand knowledge of the drug and device approval process.

Geographic Scope: United States (FDA-based)

Focus Areas:

  • FDA drug and device approval processes

  • Daily FDA activities participation

  • Regulatory affairs in gastroenterology
  • Eligibility:

  • Current 1st and 2nd year gastroenterology fellows

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited GI fellowship program
  • Award Details:

  • One-month rotation at the FDA

  • College provides stipend for travel and daily living expenses

  • Accepted candidate will be notified by early 2016 (or similar timeframe in following years)

  • Upon completion, fellow invited by ACG to present experiences at the following ACG Annual Scientific Meeting

    Application Process

    How to Apply:
    1. Complete the official application form (available on ACG website)
    2. Obtain two recommendation letters:
    - One from the fellow's current Program Director
    - One from a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG)
    3. Submit all materials to ACG

    Submission Details:

  • Applications reviewed by ACG FDA Related Matters Committee and FDA staff

  • Candidate selected and notified of acceptance by early 2016 (or similar timeframe)

  • Fellow invited to present experiences at the following year's ACG Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Required Materials:

  • Completed application form

  • Two recommendation letters (one from Program Director, one from FACG)
