What We Do Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Creating High-Quality Jobs The John and Mary Franklin Foundation focuses on two primary goals. First, we partner with high-quality non-profit organizations seeking to break the grip of generational poverty by providing basic needs, educational opportunities, and health care to our community. Second, as employment opportunities are critical to economic security, we support institutions and resources that attract and encourage businesses to locate and expand within Atlanta and Georgia. With a vision deeply rooted in these two goals, the Foundation supports and encourages lasting change through strategic grant investments. Fighting Generational Poverty The Foundation channels a significant portion of its support toward breaking the cycle of generational poverty. We do this by investing in three critical categories: Public Welfare - Organizations that provide for basic human needs, including food, shelter, and clothing, and those that provide legal assistance and support the assimilation of immigrants.Education - Organizations that provide and enhance educational initiatives, ranging from early childhood education to adult continuing education, including colleges and universities, and training for people with disabilities.Health - Organizations that provide access to quality medical, mental, and dental care for those who otherwise wouldn’t have it. Supporting Job Creation in Atlanta and Georgia The Foundation supports the creation of a robust job market for those trying to escape poverty by investing in institutions and resources that make Atlanta and the State of Georgia attractive for businesses to locate. Science & Technology - Georgia colleges and universities seeking/maintaining R1 Doctoral University Status, which helps maintain and enhances Georgia’s status as a center of scientific and technological advancement.Culture & Environment - Protection of green spaces and animals, and investment in culture and the arts, which improves quality of life for all citizens.Eligibility
