Joe Beirne Foundation Scholarship Program

Overview: Established in October 1974 by the CWA Executive Board to honor the name and memory of the founding President of CWA, Joe Beirne, who served for more than 30 years.

Award Details:

  • Sixteen partial college scholarships of $4,000 each awarded annually for the academic school year

  • Winners selected in a lottery drawing

  • Second-year scholarships of the same amount ($4,000) available contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment

  • Part-time students (taking fewer than 12 credits) receive half the scholarship amount ($2,000)

    • Eligibility:

  • CWA members

  • Spouses of CWA members

  • Children of CWA members

  • Grandchildren of CWA members

  • Dependents of retired or deceased CWA members

  • All CWA locals nationwide

    • Geographic Scope: United States and Canada (all CWA members eligible)
