JCS-FocalPlane Training Grants

The JCS-FocalPlane Training Grants, provided by The Company of Biologists, support early-career researchers aiming to attend microscopy training courses. Grants cover registration fees, accommodation, and travel costs, with a maximum funding of £1,000. These grants are designed for individuals who lack sufficient funding and must be utilized within six months of award. Only one application per lab or department may be funded each round, promoting equitable access to training opportunities.

The Company of Biologists is a not-for-profit publishing organisation dedicated to supporting and inspiring the biological community.
JCS-FocalPlane Training Grants are aimed at early-career researchers, working in an area covered by JCS, who would like to attend a microscopy training course. These training grants can be used to cover the registration fees, accommodation and/or travel costs associated with attending such a course and are designed to support those who wouldn’t otherwise have sufficient funding to attend.
Maximum funding is set at £1,000 and can be used for course fees, accommodation, travel expenses, subsistence and visa fees.
The course must take place within six months of funding being awarded. Funding of multiple applications from the same lab or department will be limited, and it is likely that only one will be awarded each round.
