Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholarship

Annual scholarship recognizing the significant contributions of emerging professionals at early stages in their careers and helping defray costs associated with the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE).

Award Amount:

• Funds to cover all sections of the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE)
• Study materials from Brightwood College (2018)
• Free subscription to ArchiPrep® (as of 2019)
• Up to $500 worth of ARE 5.0 study materials (as of 2019)

Focus Areas: Support for emerging professionals pursuing architectural licensure

Eligibility:

• Associate AIA members
• Emerging professionals at early stages in their careers
• Seeking architectural licensure

Program Details:

• Annual award
• Up to ten recipients selected each year
• Established in 2004 by AIA National Associates Committee to honor Jason Pettigrew, Associate AIA
• Transferred to Architects Foundation in 2015
• Additional scholarships donated by prior recipients (e.g., Tiffany Brown donated three scholarships in 2019 through 400 FORWARD organization to support African American women pursuing licensure)

Application Process

1. Application Period: Typically opens mid-year; deadline varies (September 2018, October 2019)
2. Required Materials:

   • Professional statement
   • Letters of recommendation
3. Submission: Submit through Architects Foundation website
4. Selection: Jury selection of up to ten recipients based on contributions to the community and commitment to professional licensure
