Israel Study/Travel Grants and Scholarships

Geographic Scope: Greater Rhode Island residents

Focus Areas: Support for study and travel opportunities to Israel for high school, gap-year, college, and post-secondary students (through age 26)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant Must Be:

• Of high school, college, or post-secondary age
• A resident of greater Rhode Island
• Planning to study/travel in a recognized study/travel program
• A donor in good standing to the Community Campaign of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island
  • Please note: No pledge is too small to apply
  • A donor in good standing is one whose immediate family has made a pledge to the current year's Alliance Community Campaign and is current with past pledges and other Alliance financial commitments

Additional Requirements:

• A recommendation is required from one of the following:
  • Rabbi/education director
  • Jewish youth group advisor
  • Public/private school teacher
  • Family friend/mentor/personal contact
• Applicants who have previously received two years of funding may be considered, however only pending the availability of funds
• A brief program description must be attached upon application submission

Recipient Commitments:

• Recipients commit to writing a brief article sharing their Israel experience for Jewish Rhode Island
• Recipients commit to speaking/presenting to a youth group, at a community gathering, and/or serving as a representative of the study/travel program
• In the event that the study/travel program is cancelled or the recipient no longer wishes to participate upon receiving an Alliance award, recipients must return all Alliance-issued awards

For High School and Gap Year Applicants Only

To apply, high school and gap-year applicants must complete:

2. Personal Statement
3. Recommendation form (provided to recommendation contact)

Financial Aid Options:

• Applicants who would like to be considered for financial aid without full disclosure should only submit the Israel Study/Travel Grants and Scholarships Application
• Applicants who would like to apply for a needs-based scholarship with full disclosure should submit:

  • Scholarship Supplement

For College and Post-Secondary Applicants Only

To apply, college and post-secondary applicants must complete:

1. Israel Study/Travel Grants and Scholarships Application
2. Personal Statement
3. Recommendation form (provided to recommendation contact)

Submission Requirements

• Program Description: A brief program description must be attached upon application submission
• PDF Forms: Please save the PDF file to your computer before filling it out
• Submission Method: Completed forms should be submitted to the Israel Desk prior to the deadline
• Deadline: Applications received after the deadline may be considered pending availability of funds

• Applicants will be notified of their status as soon as possible after submission
