Overview: Intealth seeks to support foreign national physician wellness through innovative and impactful projects addressing the unique challenges faced by J-1 physicians and foreign medical graduates (IMGs). The program promotes successful clinical and cultural exchange and delivery of quality patient care.

Background

Foreign national physician residents and fellows provide critical healthcare services and add cultural diversity in training hospitals across the United States. They face unique challenges including:
• Navigating visa requirements
• Transitioning to a new healthcare system and culture
• Social isolation

Eligibility

• Target Population: Foreign national physician residents, fellows, and international medical graduates (J-1 physicians and IMGs)
• Project Leaders: J-1 physicians must serve as project leads
• Host Institutions: U.S. training hospitals and medical centers

• Launched: 2023 (annual cycle)
• 2024 Winning Projects: 5 projects funded across various institutions
• 2023 Winning Projects: 3 projects funded across various institutions
• 2025/2026 Cycle: Winners have been announced
