About Us The Illinois Audubon Society was organized as an independent, state-wide, educational and scientific organization, incorporated April 10, 1897, by the State of Illinois. Our mission is “to promote the perpetuation and appreciation of native flora and fauna of Illinois and the habitats that support them.” Fundamental to this end are the control of pollution, the conservation of energy and all natural resources, a sound ecological relationship between human populations and their environments, and the education and involvement of the public in such efforts. IAS Grant Program The Illinois Audubon Society Grants Program was initiated by the Illinois Ornithological Society in 2004 to promote scientific research of birds in Illinois. More than 150 grants totaling greater than $160,000 have been awarded. Illinois Audubon Society is committed to continuing this successful program. In 2026, the program is open to student and professional applicants for the following grants. Applicants must choose one level when submitting their application: One grant of up to $10,000Two grants of up to $5,000Five grants of up to $2,500 In addition to funding, awardees will receive a free, one-year membership to Illinois Audubon Society.

Eligibility
