Background: In spring 2022, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors allocated $4.86 million in State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) to support the child care industry. North Edge Financing took the administrative lead in partnership with the County of Humboldt, Changing Tides Family Services, First 5 Humboldt, and the Humboldt County Office of Education.

Focus Area: Child care industry workforce stabilization and retention following COVID-19 pandemic impacts

Award Details:

• Licensed child care centers/family care facilities: $4,000 - $6,000 retention bonus
• Individual child care employees: $2,000 - $3,000 retention bonus
• Distribution: First-come, first-served basis
• Funds distributed within 60 days of application approval

For Child Care Facilities:

• Applies to licensed child care centers and family care facilities

For Individual Employees:

• Must have worked in a child care facility on or before July 1, 2021
• Must have plans to remain in the child care industry until at least June 30, 2023
