Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Program

Geographic Scope: California (serves Eden Housing residents statewide, from Petaluma to San Ysidro)

Program History: Collins, a former board member known for his passion for justice and work for the underprivileged. As of 2020, the program has awarded nearly 500 scholarships totaling more than $650,000.

Eligibility:

• Must be a current resident of a property managed by Eden Housing Management, Inc.
• Must be enrolled in a course of study
• Must be pursuing educational/academic and/or career advancement/vocational goals

• Many recipients are first-generation college students

• Individual award amounts vary
• Scholarships support attendance at UC schools (Berkeley, Los Angeles, Merced), California State University campuses, USC, and community colleges
• Awards aim to provide monetary support for academic and career goals
