Henry Hoffman Memorial Scholarship

Overview: The Henry Hoffman Memorial Scholarship Foundation annually awards seven scholarships of $10,000 each to support higher education for children of packaging distribution industry employees.

Award Distribution:

  • 6 scholarships for children of employees from NACD distributor member companies

  • 1 scholarship for a child of an employee at a supplier company

    • Background: Henry Hoffman was a visionary salesman with J. Rabinowitz & Son in Brooklyn, New York, who championed education and training for distributor salespeople and was responsible for implementing the NACD Scholarship Program. The program now bears his name in honor of his contributions to the packaging distribution industry.

    Geographic Scope: United States (NACD member companies)

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must have completed their junior year in high school at time of application

  • Must be children of employees at NACD member companies (distributor or supplier)

  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average in high school

  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in college

  • Parent must be employed by an NACD member company at time of application

  • All eligible applicants considered without regard to race, sex, religion, or national origin

    • Selection Criteria:

  • Past academic performance

  • Performance on tests measuring ability and aptitude for higher education

  • Rank in school

  • Recommendations by instructors or other unaffiliated persons

  • Extracurricular activities and leadership contributions

    • Key Features:

  • Scholarship recipients may select any course of study

  • All donations are fully tax-deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code

  • Selection committee is composed entirely of persons unaffiliated with NACD member companies or the Association
